Academic Services

School Counselors provide guidance services to assist students with course selection, career awareness, academic success and personal enrichment. It is important for your students to work closely with their counselor to ensure that they are on track for high school graduation and postsecondary success.

Chantel Rude (Gauna-OL)

I have worked at Somerset ISD for 28 years and this is my 33rd year of education.  I graduated with my Elementary Education degree from University of Minnesota - Moorhead and then received my Master's in Guidance and Counseling from Texas A & M - Kingsville.  My husband and I have been married 32 years.  I am a proud military mom of 4 children and grandma to 7 amazing children.  I love to read, scrapbook, and spend time with my family.

Glenda Bonilla-Santos (A-Garza)

I come from a small town in the center of Puerto Rico. I am happily married and have three beautiful daughters. My journey in education started in 2006 when I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. Later on, I also completed my Master's Degree in School Counseling and Clinical Counseling. I have been a part of the Somerset community since 2014, and it holds a special place in my heart. I consider myself blessed and honored to have the opportunity to serve you and your family.

Paola Elizondo (Or-Z)

I have been in the education field for 18 years, 16 of those years before coming here were at Edgewood ISD. I was a Dual Language teacher for 8 years and then I earned my Masters in School Counseling. I believe that if you are in this career it's because you truly want to be here. It is not an easy career, but if you are passionate for what you do in the education field, then everyday is worth it. I love working with the students and I love seeing them problem-solve and succeed! I am a wife and mother of 2 young boys and that's definitely another full time job after work! I am here to serve parents and students. Please contact me if you need anything.
