Somerset ISD offers voluntary benefits to supplement existing employee health insurance coverage (TRS Active-Care). These are offered under the Cafeteria Plan, known as Section 125, which allows employees to deduct the premium paid for eligible benefits from their gross earnings before federal withholding taxes are calculated and deducted.
Benefit elections are for one full year and cannot be revoked or changed unless there is a "life changing event", such as marriage, birth, adoption, divorce, loss of spouse's job, death, etc.
