Dear Somerset ISD Families,

School districts across the State of Texas were recently notified that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) would release A-F accountability ratings for school districts and campuses. As you may be aware, TEA did not release accountability results for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years’ due to lawsuits filed by over 100 school district across Texas. Although we were not part of the lawsuits, ours were delayed. Recently, the TEA notified districts that the 2022-2023 results are now being released, but the 2023-2024 results are still pending.

The 2022-2023, although two years old, indicate that the Somerset Independent School District continues to be ranked a top performer. Although our letter grade changed to a "B" accountability rating with a final score of 86, our results are relative to changes seen across the county, region, and state. In Bexar County alone, the two highest ranking districts are Alamo Heights ISD and Somerset ISD, which received “B” accountability ratings and (88) and (86) final scores. Our individual campuses performed extremely well with six “A’s” and one “C”. Our high school is on track to see a vast improvement in College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR), which counts for 40% of accountability. Since 2022, our CCMR result have increased from 67% to 95%, which will continue to make a significant impact for district performance. Along with this performance, our schools received several state level distinctions!

As the TEA updates us, we will keep you posted on the pending lawsuit for the 2023-2024 accountability results. This week, we have one more week of STAAR/EOC testing. From summer to early fall, districts will receive 2024-2025 accountability ratings.

Thank you for choosing Somerset ISD to partner with in your children's education. Our outstanding teachers, administrators, and staff look forward to serving you and their futures.

Sincerely,

Dr. José H. Moreno
