The Somerset ISD Education Foundation distributed more than $64,000 in classroom grants during its annual Surprise Patrol event on September 12th. This year’s grants total $64,364.92, making it the largest amount ever awarded by the Foundation.
The celebration began at Bulldog Stadium, where the Surprise Patrol bus—joined by Somerset High School cheerleaders, the drumline, and community partner H-E-B’s Buddy—set out on a lively tour of six campuses. With plenty of music, spirit, and energy, the patrol surprised teachers across the district with 27 grants that will support a variety of innovative projects.
This year’s funded projects include student trips to the Scobee Planetarium, Lift Orff to Success—a program introducing Orff Xylophones into the elementary music curriculum—the Bulldog Greenhouse, and Kits for Curious Kids, which will spark student exploration in STEM fields.
“Our teachers inspire creativity and curiosity in their students every day,” said Susie Pool, Executive Director of the Somerset ISD Education Foundation. “We are honored to invest in their vision and provide resources that will open new doors of learning for Somerset students.”
The Surprise Patrol tradition showcases the Education Foundation’s mission to enhance classroom experiences and expand educational opportunities through strong community partnerships and fundraising efforts.
