Thrive Center - students and superintendent cutting ribbon

Somerset ISD opened its long awaited THRIVE Center Friday, October 22nd. The COVID-19 pandemic brought to light the need for mental health awareness and services in schools. Through on-campus programming and community-based partnership, SISD will provide wraparound services to students, staff, families and the community at large.

The on-campus comprehensive center will take a holistic approach to behavioral, mental, social and emotional health and wellness. There is a need to reduce and prevent risk factors that affect mental health and impede academic success. Coordinated wraparound services and access through a central location are non-existent in Somerset’s radius for south Bexar County, where over 85% of the population is socio-economically disadvantaged.

THRIVE Center partners include Communities in Schools, Family Services, Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine UT Health and the San Antonio Council on Alcohol & Drug Awareness.

The THRIVE Center’s opening and ceremony is brought to fruition by the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER).
