Thank you for your interest in becoming a Substitute Teacher. Substitute Teachers are hired on an as-needed basis throughout the year. Interested individuals must meet the following:
High School Diploma/GED
Pass a Criminal History Background Check
Substitute Pay Rates:
High School Diploma - $104.00 per day / $110.00 per day beginning on the 11th day of a long-term assignment with no breaks in assignment period.
60 College Hours - $108.00 per day / $114.00 per day beginning on the 11th day of a long-term assignment with no breaks in assignment period.
College degree - $118.00 per day / $124.00 per day beginning on the 11th day of a long-term assignment with no breaks in assignment period.
State Certified Teacher - $133.00 per day
Long-Term Highly-Qualified Assignment - $210.00 per day / assignment is in a tested grade or subject.
Important Legal Notice:
Effective January 1, 2008, Texas law requires that all prospective school employees submit to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check and be cleared for employment.
If you are offered a position in the Somerset school district, you will be required to pay a non-refundable fee prior to beginning employment.
Payroll Cut-Off Dates:
Payroll will always cut off on the 15th and last working day of each month. This means that days worked from the 1st - 15th will be paid at the end of the month. Days worked from the 16th - end of the month will be paid on the following 15th of the month. All substitutes have access to Skyward Employee Access. It is recommended that substitutes check after each payroll period to ensure all days worked are applied.
